EX PRISONER GETS CONVERTED AND DECLARES SLEEPING IN PEACE

After the ex-prisoner João Carlos de Oliveira accepted Jesus, quit drugs as well as the world of crime

The driver João Carlos de Oliveira, 41, tells us he was born in the slums Cruzeiro do Sul, placed in Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul. He emphasizes he lived under torments for about 20 years in the world of crime. Everything started when he was 18 after he tried cocaine and became a chemical addicted. Besides using drugs, Oliveira began to drink alcoholic drinks to the extent of becoming addicted to it. In order to afford his addiction, he committed small robberies. Later, he became a kidnapper. With 32 years of age, he was arrested by the Federal Police so, experienced a long time in prison. He was sentenced for ten years. He spent six years in prison and four years in a semi-opened system, which will come to an end in April 2018. Oliveira says that every time he went to sleep, it was a torment. “When I put my head on the pillow, I felt sadness, depression, and I couldn`t sleep. My marriages failed, and I didn`t see my children grow up. I couldn`t provide my daughter`s fifteen-year-old party, my father got sick and was unable to visit me. After that, he died, and I couldn`t go to his burial. My friends from crime were all arrested, and some of them died. All of that made me a sad person. So, I started seeking a solution for my life”, tells emotionally during the service ministered by the Bishop Thiago Ciani, responsible for all of the churches of the Worldwide Church of God`s Power in Rio Grande Do Sul.

After so much suffering into jail, he decided to watch the program of the Worldwide Church of God`s Power on TV because his mother asked him. “When I saw on TV Apostle Valdemiro Santiago, maximum leader of WCGP, hugging a man with his body dominated by leprosy, I challenged myself. Actually, I didn`t like Apostle Valdemiro, but even so, I said: ‘If this man is healed, I will get converted” I thought it was impossible the cure of that leper, but a week later, that man appeared on TV with his body completely clean. So, I decided to accept Christ”, declares

After that day, Oliveira quit using cocaine as well as alcoholic drinks once and for all. “I smoked cigarettes for 17 years, and I abandoned all of the addictions”. He says that in May 2014, he received the benefit of leaving prison to celebrate Mother`s Day at home being monitored by an electronic anklet. He went straight to the church to attend the service. In June of the same year, he was baptized in the waters. “I wanted to have a new life, and today, I can say I was born again. I go to the church every Sundays, and I give the tithe and offers faithfully,” he emphasizes. Nowadays, Oliveira works as a private driver and said he has a righteous life with God. “Today, my sleep is so calm that I get to sleep very much. My wife said I seem to be a stone”, concludes happily at following Christ`s steps.
