15 years of drug use and prisoners of alcoholism

The fate of the former chemical dependent miners began to change as they learned the word of the Lord through the World Church programs of God's Power on television. Pensioner Maria Ilda Gonçalves, 62, lived for 15 years in the underworld of drugs with her husband. Both used crack, marijuana, cigarettes, and alcohol. A room without a mattress, furniture, or stove to prepare meals was their address.

"We cooked in a tin of tomato paste and two bricks on a burnt table. I did not even have a pillow to sleep because we sold everything. Our food was burnt oil, with flour and water".

By accepting Christ as Lord of their lives, the family began to be freed from vices. They have been away from drugs for 10 years. "Today we are free and happy, thank God. I live in an apartment in Minas Gerais with 7 rooms, very different from the time we had a room and ate in a can of alcohol.
