1 Samuel 2: 1 tells us about Hannah`s prayer. Like most of women, she wanted to become a parent. At that time, a man could have more than a wife, so Hannah`s husband had another wife, who used to humiliate her because she couldn`t get pregnant, but Hannah kept her prayers constant begging God for having children. Her rival humiliated her, but she insisted. That`s why we have to persevere and pray because if we become faithful like Hannah, we will receive what she received in her, the victory. Observe that everything belongs to God. We don`t have a way to live without God. There is no life out of God. A branch never produces fruit when it`s ripped from a tree. Our strength comes from the Lord. Hannah, thankful, said that there is no Rock like our God. Nothing compares to Him, nothing supports like God, and nothing is a firm base like God. He is the God of Wisdom. God enjoys getting the small weak one, who is nothing, and raise him up for everyone to see that He was the One who made it. In order to receive the prophet Samuel, David`s father arranged everything. Jesse was concerned about how to arrange the table, worried about what could please the prophet. David saw his father arranging his brothers and himself and then, sent to the field. He smelled the perfume of the food that he would never eat because he would be looking after those sheep. When the prophet arrived, God made him deny all of Jesse`s children to get to David. David was the smallest at his father`s place, who didn`t care about him, however, he was the most important one to God. It was a special occasion and Jesse could have asked David to stay with them, and he could look after those sheep later when the prophet left. Everything is the way God wants and contributes to the wellbeing of those who love God. David went to the field and pasture to come back happy to enjoy everything his father prepared and he saw it.
That`s the way God does. No one cared about David, but God had His eyes on him, the same way as He observes us. The Lord is not looking for skillful people. He wants people who are nothing to exalt them. Hannah was humiliated, but she was praying every day. She showed her life, her shame, and her humiliation to God and He heard Hannah`s prayers.
God evaluates every condition and His sense is not the same as men`s. Men`s sense is adulterated in their favor while God`s is righteous. David was a weak person to his father. Hannah was weak to her rival, and both were exalted. There are many other examples of weak and small ones who were exalted by God in the Bible, like Gideon, who was the smallest one at his parents’ home and became the most blessed person. None of us may be proud thinking that is skillful because all conditions go by. Today, we are successful, but tomorrow we might fail. Everything comes from God; everything was made through Him and for Him. Hannah prayed and made a purpose with God, which if she became a parent, her son would be given to the Lord to be raised by the priest in the temple. Samuel was not raised by his parents, but by the priest Eli. Hannah did what she promised the Lord. When you have a purpose with God, it`s necessary to fulfill. Purpose doesn`t just mean the tithe you give back to the Lord or offeror, it`s in all aspects. Hannah got close to her son, of course, loved him, breastfed him, got enthusiastic for being a parent joyful for generating a life, but she fulfilled her promise with God and delivered her son to God as she had promised. Imagine a mother giving up of her son, but Hannah didn`t think over; she fulfilled what she had promised God. The Lord is wonderful because He provides us with much more than what we ask Him for. Hannah didn`t have just a single son, she had others. God is powerful and if we love God and submit ourselves to Him and pray nonstop, God will be in our favor at the right time. He gives us beyond our requests and thoughts.
