Base yourself in God

Hold yourself onto the Lord and resist afflictions.

In Matthew 7.24, we read about two basics. Basics are foundations; every building has to have a foundation to bear its structure. God compares us to a building, a house, as well as its foundations that define what kind of life we have; whether it is good or not You do what God says, what the Bible teaches and you observe the teachings, like the builder who made your House on the rock. Probations come and your home will remain upstanding. Some preachers say that we won't have problems to accept Jesus, that's a lie, because even Jesus Christ had problems to solve. When God made the rain, He made it to rain on everything in the ground. The promise of Jesus is not that we won't have problems, but we will be more than winners and get through all barriers, problems, and difficulties.

If you have basics in the word, storms, floods, tornadoes, troubles of life won`t make you suffer. As we are regarded as a house, these physical evidences are not really natural phenomena, but troubles, adversities.

The degree of intimacy with the Lord is what allows us to overcome problems. If you live with Him, for Him, according to His commandments, to His Word, we go through any storm. Jesus calls problems a storm because every storm is fleeting. The Word suggests that problems you might go through are temporary, but if you pray, fast and hold onto God, remain submitted to Him, you will stand and the flood will go away. Otherwise, it'll drag you and make a big mess, as it did to the house, which was not on the rock, that is, in life that was not rooted in Jesus. You need to ensure that, when a storm comes, you're stuck on the rock, firm, steadfast, and when it is over, your life keeps intact. God is our rock, Jesus Christ is our security. The degree of communion, how much you trust God, it is what determines your survival through issues and evidence that life shows us.
